The List: The Top 45+ Bali Beaches to Visit in 2024

The best beach holidays in Bali can be had during the dry season between April and October, when the beaches are sunny, calm, and free of seaweed and rubbish. Whether you're a diver, surfer, or family vacationer, there's a perfect beach for you in Bali.

Note: Our list is ordered clockwise from Tanjung Benoa around the Bali coastline for the South Bali beaches. We then go counter-clockwise from Saur around the East Bali and North Bali beaches.

    1. Tanjung Benoa Beach

Tanjung Benoa, South Bali | Best Bali beach for adrenalin watersports

Address: Benoa, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Tanjung benoa Beach in Bali is the home of watersports in the south

Bali Beaches shares this great video on Tanjung Benoa Beach, where watersports are king!

Tanjung Benoa Beach, located in the southeastern part of Bali, is known for its long stretch of white sand and calm waters. The beach is ideal for both families and vacationers who want to relax and enjoy some watersports. There are many water sports options like paragliding and banana boating offered at this beach so it's noisier here than other beaches. If you are looking for a place to just relax and rejuvenate, Tanjung Benoa Beach might not be your best choice, but it tends to have more budget accommodation than Nusa Dua so that can be a drawcard. The watersport noise is not too bad, and less from a resort poolside than on the beach itself.

    2. Nusa Dua Beach (including Mengiat Beach)

Nusa Dua, South Bali | Best Bali beach for families, honeymooners & luxury-seekers

Read our main guide here: Experience the High-End Hotel Precinct of Nusa Dua Beach in Bali

Address: Nusa Dua, Benoa, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps (note that our map link is to the first section of Nusa Dua Beach, but it continues around the headland to a second main beach as well).

Nusa Dua Beach Bali is perfect for families, couples and honeymoons

Watch this Youtube video by Travel Scout which gives a good insight into what Nusa Dua is like. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

Nusa Dua Beach is one of the safest and best beaches in Bali for families due to its shallow tides and slow currents, clear waters, and various water sports available. The beach offers a wide range of water activities, from snorkeling to kayak rentals, making it a popular spot for families and five-star resort vacationers, such as honeymooners, seniors, and destination weddings.

Nusa Dua Beach is secluded and clean due to the area's exclusivity and the luxury resorts in the area. It has a fantastic beach vibe and offers a variety of dining options, from local eateries to upscale fine-dining restaurants in the many beachfront resorts. You can stay in one resort and hop along the beach to the others for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. Whether you're looking for all-inclusive fun things to do in Bali or just want a relaxing beach getaway, Nusa Dua Beach could be the perfect choice for your next vacation.

There are actually a few sections called ‘Nusa Dua Beach’ - one is north of the two ‘islands’ or little knobs (which is what Nusa Dua means), one is south and the southern one is also, in part at least, called Mengiat Beach. Further south is Geger Beach (see below) which is also arguably part of Nusa Dua.

    3. Geger Beach

South of Nusa Dua, South Bali | Best Bali beach for sunsets

Address: 56MG+RFQ, Benoa, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Geger Beach Bali Indonesia drone view

This video by Sharing Some Sights gives a terrific overview of Geger Beach with great drone footage. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

Geger Beach is one of the best beaches in Bali for watching the sunrise. The beach has a beautiful, yellowish-white sand and is considered one of the top Bali beaches for views of the sunset. The beauty of Geger Beach makes it a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, and the beach is lined with the Bali National Golf Club, St Regis Bali and The Mulia Bali Resort so it has swanky neighbours. The beach is secluded but accessible, with road access and parking spaces at Geger Beach Nusa Dua make it easy to reach the beach. The calm waves and shallow depth of Geger Beach make it a safe place for children to swim.

At low tide, a secluded beach situated behind a rocky outcrop beneath the temple becomes accessible. Alternatively, you can take a discreet dirt footpath, camouflaged by tall foliage, adjacent to Geger Temple to reach this covert shoreline. As you approach the middle section of the beach, you will discover several local eateries offering a delectable assortment of cuisine ranging from nasi goreng to burgers.

A small creek flows beneath the cliff base, and ascending a few stairs will bring you to a well-established seafood grill restaurant. For those who didn't bring their own, surfboards are available for rent at the nearby kiosks. The Balinese pawukon calendar marks Geger Temple's odalan anniversary celebrations every 6th full moon.

    4. Sawangan Beach

Sawangan, Bukit Peninsula, South Bali | Best Bali beach for family fun

Address: Jl. Gn. Payung I, Benoa, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Sawangan Beach in Bali is beautiful, but not ideal for swimming

Bali Beaches YouTube Channel shares this wonderful drone footage of Sawangan Beach. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

Located off the beaten path, Sawangan Beach (formerly known as Nikko Beach) is one of the stunning beaches in Nusa Dua that sees fewer tourists than other beaches in the area. Surfers and guests staying at nearby hotels are the primary visitors to the beach.

To access the beach, take the little side road next to the current Hilton Hotel. If you arrive by car, you will need to descend a steep ramp to reach the shore. However, if you ride a motorbike, you can take it down to the beach.

Due to the strong currents and high waves, the small public section of the beach is not suitable for swimming. Nevertheless, Sawangan Beach is an ideal place to bask in the sun and indulge in a sumptuous meal of freshly caught fish.

If you are a guest at the Hilton Hotel, you can even enjoy a unique experience by taking a camel ride along the beach. Next to the Hilton, further down the beach, is the Apurva Kempinski Bali Hotel and the Ritz Carlton is beyond that, so you are in the swanky section here, and the guards will watch you with eagle eyes, so look classy.

    5. Gunung Payung Beach

Kutuh, South Bali | Best Bali beach for secret liaisons

Address: 555X+MWP, Pantai Gunung Payung, Kutuh, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Gunung Payung Beach in Bali is known for its seclusion and privacy

Bali Beaches YouTube channel share this awesome drone footage of Gunung Payung Beach. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

Gunung Payung Beach is a beach located on the north coast of Bali with picturesque white sand and flat waters at low tide. It has long been a favorite among a few tourists in the know and locals alike for its beautiful scenery and seclusion. It is popular for its secret liaisons due to its secluded nature and lack of crowds.

As you approach the cliff edge beyond the temple, you'll be greeted by breathtaking ocean views and the sound of waves crashing below. The beach is not easily accessible and requires a fit and determined effort to reach, as it involves descending a steep flight of stairs that locals claim to total around 300. The deep green patches in the crystal-clear waters serve as growing grounds for local seaweed farmers. Upon reaching the base, you'll find deep and coarse sand, and calm waters ideal for snorkeling.

Due to its remote location and challenging access, the beach remains untouched by vendors. It's advisable to bring your own drinking water and snacks to replenish once you arrive. The natural reef barriers provide mostly calm and swimmable waters, but be cautious of spiny sea urchins that are prevalent along these southern coasts. Additionally, high tide conditions can be hazardous as there are no lifeguards on duty.

    6. Pandawa Beach

Bukit Peninsula | Best Bali beach for cliffs, sensational sand and secret location

Address: 553P+R5G, Jl. Pantai Pandawa, Kutuh, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Pandewa Beach, Bali is one of the most popular beaches on the island

Watch this great Bali Beaches YouTube video on Pandewa Beach, Bali. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

Pandawa Beach is a must-visit beach in Bali if you're looking for a secluded location with stunning white sand and clear water.

The approach is down a well-paved road through a cliff cutting. There are archways carved into the stone in which sits stone statues. Each of the statues on Pandawa Beach represents one of the hero characters from the Mahabharata epic, famously known as the '5 Pandawas', which is where the beach derives its name.

The beach is located on the more remote southwest coast of the island, and has a secret location that makes it feel like an entirely different place. It is famous for its cliffs and dramatic sand, which makes for an incredible view. The beach has fewer tourists than nearby beaches, making it a perfect getaway for a peaceful romantic or family vacation.

Pandawa Beach boasts an exotic blend of blue and green waters, where local seaweed farmers tend to their patches along the coast. On calm, clear days, the beach is a delightful place to go for a swim.

For those seeking adventure, sea kayaks are available for hire, along with life vests, allowing you to paddle out and explore the area. Additionally, surfboards are available for those looking to catch a wave beyond the reef breaks. However, it's worth noting that the swells can be unpredictable, with the strongest southern ocean currents pushing out in various directions. Therefore, surfing at Pandawa Beach is recommended for experienced surfers only.

    7. Green Bowl Beach

Ungasan, South Bali | Best Bali beach for surfing and caves

Address: Ungasan, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

    Surfing Green Bowl Beach, Bali

Skysharks Bali Youtube channel captures all the excitement of surfing Green Bowl Beach in this video. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

Green Bowl Beach, popularly known as Ungasan Beach, is a delightful beach located in Balinese village of Ungasan. The beach is perfect for those looking for a quiet and secluded location. It is best visited at low tide because at high tide the beach disappears.

With views of the Indian Ocean, this beach offers plenty of opportunities for watersports such as surfing (for the experienced only) and swimming (with caution). Visitors to Green Bowl Beach will enjoy the steep descent to the beach (300 steps), and it is well worth the effort. You might spot Macaques (monkeys) as you descend. The soft, white sand makes it a perfect spot for intermediate to pro surfers. In addition to its scenic beauty, Green Bowl Beach is also home to two caves with shrines that are worth exploring.

    8. Melasti Beach

Ungasan, Bukit Peninsula, South Bali | Best Bali beach for white sand seclusion

Address: Jl. Melasti Ungasan, Ungasan, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Melasti Beach is known for its white sand beaches that were once regarded as perfect for quiet retreats. However, progress calls and the word has got out that this is a great beach with lots to do so the crowds are growing. Not that this is a bad thing if you want a beach with several beach clubs and heaps of people-spotting opportunities. You can also walk up Melasti Beach to reach the Karma Beach Club (which costs) at Karma Beach.

Pantai Melasti Bali is primarily a destination where visitors can spend a full day chilling at the beach. Although there aren't many water sports available, the calm and turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean provide an excellent opportunity for swimming.

As one of Bali's cleanest beaches, Pantai Melasti is the perfect place to relax and soak up the Balinese sun. The beach is divided into three parts, with little rockpools forming along the shoreline of the middle section during low tide, making it an ideal spot for a refreshing dip. While the middle section is the most popular, it's worth exploring the eastern and western parts too. To the east, you'll discover a naturally formed limestone cape, while the west provides the perfect spot to catch a beautiful sunset.

Surrounded by cliffs, Pantai Melasti also boasts several viewpoints with stunning ocean views. In addition, a newly built arena hosts local ceremonies and performances such as the Melasti Kecak Dance.

    9. Karma (Nammos) Beach

It is an ideal spot for families and offers some of the best views in the area. The beach has a number of amenities, including restaurant, bar, and outdoor cinema. Guests of the Karma Kandara Villas can use a cable car to access the beach from their villa. You don't have to be a guest of the villas to use the beach club but it is private so there is an entrance fee and this includes food and drinks.

Another popular beach in this region is the neighbouring Melasti Beach, which is close by and accessible from the Karma Beach Club.

Note: This inclusion is not sponsored; we have included it to offer an alternative for those who want a private club experience and to be complete.

    10. Nunggalan (Shipwreck) Beach

Ungasan, South Bali | Best Bali beach for beach seclusion and trekking

Address:Jl. Batu Nunggalan, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Discover Nunggalan Beach, Bali in this great video

This video by YouTube channel ABC Walking does a good job of showing what Nunggalan Beach is like. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

Nunggalan Beach is a less known beach in Ungasan, South Bali, offering a stunning view and tranquil atmosphere. The beach is known for its crystal clear waters and golden sands with large stretch of beach to explore. There are plenty of activities to do here, such as swimming (take care on the coral reef), fishing, and surfing (advanced).

The descent to the beach is via a rocky path which is one reason that this beach is not visited by more people - perfect! Once you arrive down at the beach you'll find a shack selling coconuts and renting beach umbrellas - handy because there is very little shade on this beach.

There is a cave to explore as well as a shipwreck on the beach (giving the beach its alternative name). If you keep walking along the beach at low tide you can cross the point and get onto Nyang Nyang Beach.

    11. Nyang Nyang Beach

Bukit Peninsula, South Bali | Best beach in Bali for long walks

Nyang Nyang Beach is a stunning 1.5-kilometer stretch of white sand on Bali's southernmost coast. Surrounded by cliffs and secluded from the crowds, the beach requires a long trek down a lush cliffside, making it an ideal destination for beach lovers and day-trippers looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the island's southern peninsula.

Nyang Nyang Beach is the one of the best beach in Bali for long walks. The beach offers a pristine sandy coast with opportunities for long walks and exploring the surrounding area. This is a great place to take in the natural beauty of Bali. Swimming here can be nice, but only recommended for the experienced and care must be taken.

Experienced surfers can enjoy the uncrowded waves, with plenty of room to catch a ride. Located in the Pecatu area, half a kilometer southeast of Uluwatu Temple, the beach is a half-hour trek through rugged terrain. The journey is well worth it, offering splendid views of the lush greenery and flowering bushes covering the hillside.

YouTuber Paula Lepšytė shares this video to show what Blue Point Beach, Bali is all about. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

There is a bit of confusion here but Suluban Beach, Blue Point Beach and Uluwatu Beach are really one region of beach and the 'Blue Point' name is a bit of clever marketing from a villa in the area and the snappy name gets attached to all three beaches in different blogs. Surfers will use the name 'Blue Point Beach' and this Uluwatu beach is a famous surfing spot on the island and is known for its steady wave conditions. The beach here is ideal for experienced surfers of all levels, so it is not great place for beginners to learn how to surf. Longboarders and bodyboarders will love Uluwatu’s consistent wave quality and fast, shallow water.

Thomas Beach offers a perfect blend of seclusion and activity

Bali Beaches’ YouTube video shows why Thomas Beach is such a popular Bali beach. Click to view, like and subscribe to this channel.

Thomas Beach is a secluded stretch of white sand beach accessible only via a narrow lane and winding staircase (follow the signs to Thomas Guesthouse). This makes it a popular spot for sunbaking, swimming, and privacy. This beautiful beach is located on the southern part of the island, near Uluwatu Temple. The beauty of this beach can be appreciated from both the shore and from the water. It is one of the most scenic beaches in Bali and is well worth a visit.

The walk down to the beach is an effort (more so coming back) but this is the adventure and the reward once you arrive is worth it. This is as close as you will get to a 'secret' beach in Bali's south and we've buried this message in this sentence for those lucky enough to find it - come quick before too many people read this! Seriously, now is the time as this beach won't stay free and quiet for much longer.

    15. Padang Padang (Labuan Sait) Beach

Pecatu, South Bali | Best Bali beach for surf stars riding barrels

Address: Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Youtube channel Bali Cheapest Tours goes down on the beach with an authentically-shot video of what this beach is like.

Padang Padang Beach is one of the best beaches in Bali for surfers riding barrels. This beach is located in Uluwatu and has a number of good quality waves that can provide some exciting competition to surfers. The famous surfing area of Padang Padang Beach is known for its consistent and powerful waves, making it ideal for professional surfers who want to compete at the highest level.

The beach also has a rich history. In the past, it was used as a shooting location for the movie Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts. 16. Pemutih Beach

Address: no, Jl. Pemutih No.1A, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Pantai Pemutih is one of Bali's more unknown beaches, surrounded by private villas

Watch YouTube’s Beach Bali Channel show what it’s like to arrive and spend the afternoon at Pantai Pemutih.

Pemutih Beach is relatively unknown, with a small beach and rocky outcrops and cliffs upon which sit private villas. This is a popular surf spot, but still has merit for beachgoers if you want something a little unusual, quiet and out of the way. There are few online reviews but of those the words are glowing - people love its seclusion, call it a 'gem' and hope it stays a secret....and it probably will stay sleepy because the beach is not huge and it does not have the bells and whistles that many people want in a beach (clubs, massage, etc). All the better for those who love it just the way it is!

    17. Bingin Beach

Pecatu, South Bali | Best Bali beach for surf

Address: 54V7+Q42, Jl. Pantai Bingin, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Bingin Beach, Bali is known for its white sand and awesome surf

Watch Hey Selvie’s video giving the scoop on Bingin Beach, Bali.

Bingin Beach is located on the western coast of the Bukit Peninsula and is renowned for its pristine white sand and world-class surf. Surfer folklore knows this beach as the one to try and get tubed on its fast left-hander barreling wave. So, this beach is known for its strong waves and excellent surf conditions and therefore this is not necessarily a place for learn-to-surfers (although locals do offer lessons).

However, this is not just a beach for surfers. It has a beautiful shoreline (head south to explore little beaches beyond the rocky outcrops) and several beachside restaurants, making it a dream destination for both surfers and sun lovers. And being west-facing, the sunsets are spectacular.

    18. Dreamland Beach

Pecatu, Jimbaran, South Bali | Best Bali beach for dreamy paradise

Address: Jl. Pantai Cimongkak, Pecatu, Kuta Selatan, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

YouTuber Citycams takes us live onto Dreamland Beach for an unedited feel for the beach and the people at this iconic surf beach

The beach offers killer surf, beachside yoga, and local shops. As well as being a great place to relax, Dreamland Beach is also known for its Bali massages on the sand.

The recent new developments in the early 2000s this area became know as 'New Kuta'. Some of the local charm (such as the ramshackle warungs) has almost gone but this remains a popular surfing haunt and serves the new hotels developments well.

Locally known as Pantai Balangan, the area is also home to a reef located just off the coast that generates an exceptionally long left-handed surfing break, which is one of the most sought-after on the island. You can swim here, but it is a surfers beach so it's probably not your number one choice if you want serious swimming fun.

This idyllic destination is a popular hotspot among surfers from all corners of the world, who flock to the southwestern Bukit coastline to experience the incredible waves. Balangan Beach is also accompanied by a collection of other surfing spots, such as Dreamland, Impossibles, Padang Padang, Suluban, and Uluwatu, located further south.

Kubu Beach, Bali has public access for those in the know

YouTuber Erico Kanetie made this short video of Kubu Beach

This is another of Bali's hidden beaches, at the bottom of cliffs. The Ayana Beach Resort will have you believe it is theirs, but in truth it has public access. That access is a challenge however - you will park near the Goa Peteng Temple at Tunjung Mekar and walk down a narrow lane through rough jungle and down to the beach. When you arrive, marvel at the funicular (cable car thingie) that brings guests from the resort down to the beach - bless the other half, hey! But don't stress, you are here and the sunsets are great. Swimming is a bit challenging but at low tide there are nice rockpools to bob up and down in.

And there is nothing stopping you sauntering up to the beach club and buying a cocktail......

    22. Pantai Tegal Wangi

Pantai Tegal Wangi in Bali has beautiful rock pools to explore

This video by Pak Febian Nurrahman Saktinegara shows how to get to Tegal Wangi Beach and the amazing sunset (just check its not high tide!)

At the bottom of cliffs (but relatively easy access down steps) you will find this beautiful little beach with rockpools that fill with each crashing wave. If you wander up the beach you will discover tow caves - perfect for laying down your sarong or towel and chilling out.

Pantai Tegal Wangi is busiest toward sunset - it is one of the best spots to catch the end of day spectacle that makes the west side of the Bukit Peninsula so popular. If you'd like to have the beach all to yourself, come in the morning (shaded) or mid-morning when the sun starts to hit the beach.

    23. Jimbaran Beach

Jimbaran Bay, South Bali | Best Bali beach for seafood & sunsets

Address: Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Jimbaran Beach is well-known for its white sand and seafood cafes

YouTuber CityCamS has made this video that shows Jimbaran in an authentic and unedited way, with the sunset in 4K!

Jimbaran Beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bali. It has a 3-kilometer stretch of glittering sands and majestic sunsets. The beach offers quiet surroundings and is great for relaxing and unwinding. In addition to being a great place for snorkeling and swimming, Jimbaran Beach serves as the beachfront of some of the island’s most luxurious 5-star resorts, making it an ideal location for viewing sunsets.

A popular attraction at Jimbaran Beach is the local seafood restaurants, which serve delicacies such as prawns and lobster grilled over an open fire. Other nearby attractions include horse riding, hiking, shopping, and visiting cultural sites.

    24. Kuta Beach

Kuta, South Bali | Best Bali beach for partying hard

Address: Jalan Pantai Kuta, Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia | Navigate with Google Maps

Kuta Beach, Bali is the original party beach

YouTuber Island Hopper TV shows Kuta as it is on this unedited walk along the beach

Kuta Beach is Bali’s original beach and a popular destination for tourists. It is a popular spot for shopping, surfing, and watching the sunset with a Bintang beer in hand. Kuta Beach is known for its white sand and beautiful sea views. Its soft waves make it the perfect place to take a relaxing swim or learn to surf. The beach is also home to numerous restaurants, bars, and hotels that cater to both locals and tourists.

With so much to see and do on Kuta Beach, it’s no wonder it has been voted as one of the best beaches in Bali time and time again. It has its devotees, but of course, its detractors - after all, Kuta is the haunt of the party-going backpacker set, which is awesome if you are one of the club and not so great if you are not! Don't worry though - northward to Legian and it gets a little more sober and Seminyak goes all posh and stylish.

Canggu beach lifestyle is revealed in this great video

Youtuber Gypsy in Sneakers has made this awesome video on the Canggu lifestyle.

Echo Beach in Canggu is a popular beach destination for backpackers, surfers, and sun seekers. The beach offers impressive surf, with some spots suitable for professionals who want to ride big waves. In addition to great surfing, Echo Beach is also known for its stunning sunsets, making it one of the best places around to catch dusk each evening. The beach also has several restaurants and bars on site, making it a great place for those looking for some local flavor while enjoying the ocean views. All in all, Echo Beach is a must-visit beach in Bali that provides a unique experience for both locals and tourists alike.

Canggu is of course, hipster central and there are lots of digital nomads wanting the landscape with iPhones to guide them from one cool bar to another with brief co-working stops to polish up their vitamin empires. Just kidding - the cool kids hang here and lend the place a scruffy-but-chic feel. Where will they go once they read this? It's anyone's guess. Maybe Sideman?

    28. Pererenan Beach

Perenenan Beach is a stunning beach with a standout monument

Discover just how amazing Perenenan Beach is in this brilliant video by Beach Bali Channel.

Pererenan Beach and Seseh Beach are almost one and the same, being separated only by the outflow or irrigation from the fringing rice paddies behind the beach. This is a serious surf hangout, rather than a swimming beach, but it is a great place to come and soak up the more laid-back surfing culture. There are surf schools here and a good local surfing contingent and they make a big effort at beach cleanups and environmental concerns.

There is a good collection of trendy restaurants and warungs, spas and accommodation, so it's easy to see this might be where the trendsetters from Canggu come when Canggu is too crowded. We think this area is one to watch.

Seseh is a surf spot situated northwest of Canggu, close to Tanah Lot temple. It offers soft and enjoyable waves that still possess a degree of power. The area features long left-hand waves and shorter right-hand waves, making it ideal for surfing during mid to high tide.

However, novice surfers should exercise caution as the waves at Seseh can be speedy, hollow, and rather challenging at times. It is recommended that one become comfortable with the waves at Kuta before attempting to surf at Seseh.

Munggu Beach in Bali is a broad stretch of beach you'll have all to yourself most days!

We picked this video by Nathan Adventure because it is crisp. If you don’t speak Indonesian you can just enjoy the vision, and maybe learn a little Bahasa Indonesia whilst you discover Munggu Beach!

With a backdrop of rice fields, Munggu Beach is very much raw nature and farmers tending their fields. The quiet beachside temple hosts a Melasti ceremony just prior to Nyepi Day each Bali calendar year (which is 210 days long). The beach is quiet, free from hawkers, with black sand. Photographers will love the raw beauty. There are canoes for rent and the waves are not too strong. What is also nice about Munggu Beach is that locals like to come here to catch the sunset, so you can easily strike up a conversation and get to know a new friend or two (who is not there to sell you something) as the sunsets.

Jean Voronkova shares this video on Balian Beach, an iconic surf spot on Bali.

Balian Beach is located in the Tabanan area of West Bali and is known for its black sand and excellent surf. Balian used to be a just a quaint village nestled amidst rice fields, with hardly any visitors. However, once surfers stumbled upon the area's robust swells and powerful rip, it swiftly transformed into a favored destination for surfing enthusiasts.

Although there are relatively fewer surfers compared to the bustling Kuta or the Bukit, it remains a popular spot. The optimal period for surfing is during the dry season, as the ocean tends to get murky on rainy days. Additionally, several shops provide surf gear for purchase or rental. Kite surfing is another thrilling activity in Balian, particularly during the windy month of August.

Pantai Klotok Beach in Bali is one of many deserted beaches you can enjoy all to yourself on many days

YouTubers Marina and Trevor reveal all in this video on Pantai Klotok.

Nestled in the majestic landscape of Bali is Pantai Klotok, an idyllic beach that offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The scenery at Pantai Klotok is simply breathtaking. With its crystal clear waters and miles of black sand beaches, it's the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day by the sea. However, this is not a beach for swimming - the waves are almost always significant and all the locals recommend against swimming.

Located within easy reach of vibrant cities such as Denpasar and Kuta, Pantai Klotok is a beach of enormous ceremonial significance to the local Balinese all through the Gianyar regency. This significance is because this beach (and others nearby) are used by the Balinese for Hindu cleansing ceremonies, including as the final stop after a cremation. This ritual is called 'Melukat' and after carrying this out on the beach they will proceed to the Watu Klotok Temple for prayers.

Pasir Putih and Virgin Beach Bali form one long stretch of amazing Bali beach

Aaron Around shares a great video on Pasir Putih and Virgin Beach, Bali.

Pasir Putih Beach and Virgin Beach together form a serene beach that distinguishes itself from the more renowned western shores by its tranquil ambiance and milder waves. Its attraction is further enhanced by the presence of boulders in the sand close to the cliffs and a mix of white sand interlaced with black, which defies its moniker, White Sand Beach. If you have made it here, you are a true explorer, getting off the beaten pathways and getting to some of Bali's less-explored hangouts.

Due to its (somewhat) increasing popularity, several locally-run traditional warung-style restaurants and cafes now line most of the eastern part of the beach. These establishments offer booking services for activities such as fishing, snorkeling, and sailing tours, alongside a wide range of local cuisine.

The beach is adorned with vibrant parasols and comfortable cushioned daybeds located in front of the warungs and cafes. Towards the western end, rows of traditional jukung outriggers owned by the local Perasi and Bugbug fishermen are often parked, set against the scenic Bukit Penggiang rock face. On the opposite hill stands Bukit Apem.

The location offers breathtaking views of the ocean, as well as some interesting wrecks and artifacts. The beach also offers a picturesque backdrop for snorkeling.

When we say 'Amed' we are actually talking about a stretch of beach that is home to several villages: Amed, Jemeluk, Bunutan, Lipah, Selang, Banyuning and Aas. These villages still make their living from fishing and traditional boats line the shores. These traditional boats are available for hire if you want to go out fishing and snorkelling on the reefs.

Other activities when staying in Amed include visiting local salt mines, traditional tofu manufacturing, temples and more so you can easily spend a week here and be on the go between dives or snorkelling.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the nicest beach in Bali?

When it comes to deciding which beach in Bali is the nicest, there’s no easy answer. Bali offers a variety of beautiful beaches to choose from, each with its own unique features and attractions. So, the best beach in Bali for you will be the one that matches your interests.

For example, Bingin Beach on Bali's southern coast is one of the best beaches with white sand and famous surf breaks. Pandawa Beach in Kutuh Bali is a great destination for families because it has white sand and gentle waves. Dreamland Beach offers killer surfing, Bali massages, and limestone cliffs with a panoramic view. If you're looking for a peaceful spot for yoga retreats, tasty cuisines, and surfing then head over to Balian Beach.

Where is the clearest water in Bali, Indonesia?

Generally speaking, Bali enjoys clear waters at most beaches during the dry season. However, there are some areas that stand out from the rest when it comes to clear water.

The beaches located in the eastern part of Bali such as Amed, Padang Bai and Candidasa tend to offer clearer waters than the other areas in the island. This is because there are much smaller local populations in these areas, so there is less rubbish being discharged down the water irrigation channels to the sea. In the rainy season, rivers can carry excessive amounts of rubbish, turning even the clearest beach into murky and polluted waters.

Are there any white sand beaches in Bali?

Yes, there are plenty of white sand beaches in Bali! The crystal-clear waters and the picturesque views make them some of the most popular places to visit. With over 45 public beaches on our list alone, you’ll definitely find one that suits your holiday needs.

However, it is important to note that not all of these beaches are safe for swimming. If you are traveling with children or are simply looking for a beach safe enough for everyone to enjoy, then consulting Baligram.me's guide to Bali's Best Beaches will help you identify the many white sand beaches that offer just that kind of safety.

Which beach water is the cleanest in Bali?

Out of all the beaches in Bali, Dreamland Beach is renowned for having the cleanest water. Dreamland Beach is located on the south coast of the Bukit Peninsula, and it's a great spot for swimming and snorkeling due to its crystal clear waters. The beach also boasts stunning white sand and scenic views, making it an ideal destination for beachgoers looking for a perfect day out in nature.

What are the best beaches in Bali for swimming?

Bali is home to some of the best swimming beaches in the world. The top beaches for swimming in Bali include Nusa Dua, Sanur, and Jimbaran. When choosing a beach for swimming, look for one with white sand, safe waves for kids, a southern location, and easy access from parking.

Nusa Dua is the most popular beach among swimmers due to its crystal clear water and long white sand shoreline. It's also great for snorkeling due to its shallow waters.

Sanur is perfect for families and kids as it has gentle waves, making it safe for swimming. It also has many beachfront cafes and shops nearby where you can grab food and drinks while enjoying your swim.

Lastly, Jimbaran Beach is known for its shallow waters and rocky base which makes it suitable for those who are still learning how to swim. Additionally, its natural beauty will give you a unique experience compared to other Bali beaches.

Which beaches do you recommend best for a toddler?

When it comes to beach trips with a toddler, Bali has some great options. But you have to choose carefully, because many of Bali's beaches are known for their lively and unpredictable waves. We think the best idea is to choose a resort with its own lagoon and kiddies pools where the kids will have a safe swimming experience. This way they can enjoy safe swimming in a pool and use the beach for running, games with new friends etc.

Not to worry if you're looking for something more mellow though, as there are some stunning calm beaches in Bali too...scroll through this guide and names like Nusa Dua, Sanur, Jimbaran and Padangbai might be ideal choices for your family.

Which is better: a beach or a resort?

Both a beach and a resort can offer memorable moments and experiences but the one that fits you best depends on your preference. Bali beaches offer stunning views and recreational activities, such as surfing, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and fishing. Some of them even charge an entrance fee for foreigners, but most are free. If you're someone who loves to enjoy the sun, the sea breeze and some fun activities then a beach should be your go-to choice.

On the other hand, Bali resorts are perfect if you want to enjoy some private havens with swimming pools and open-air living areas. Most of these places also offer lots of kids' clubs and activities to keep the young ones entertained. You can opt for luxury or budget resorts according to your needs. So, when it comes down to choosing between a beach and a resort in Bali, pick the one that suits your needs and interests the most.

Where can I find a list of all of the Bali beaches in Bali?

We've worked hard to make this article one of the most comprehensive guides to the finest Bali beaches.
